Pediatric Physical Therapist

Rochester, NY

TES Staffing is excited to partner with a small, independent school in Rochester that joyfully supports children with special health care needs. We are currently seeking dedicated Physical Therapists to join their team.


Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday

    • Option 1: 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM

    • Option 2: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

  • Employment Type: Direct Hire

  • Compensation: $62,400–$79,040 annually

Job Summary

The Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support of enrolled children. This role focuses on promoting functional independence, meaningful engagement, and family-centered care. Therapists collaborate across disciplines to ensure goals outlined in each enrollee’s IFSP or IEP are met. All documentation must meet state, local, and program standards.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage physical impairments and disabilities.

  • Provide therapy services and initiate referrals as needed.

  • Conduct screenings at regular intervals to determine service needs.

  • Gather assessment data to guide treatment planning; perform specialized assessments when appropriate.

  • Obtain and document necessary physician orders.

  • Communicate evaluation findings with families and team members.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including short- and long-term goals.

  • Recommend and monitor use of assistive devices, orthotics, and positioning supports.

  • Adjust interventions based on enrollee progress and physician recommendations.

  • Create home-based therapy plans or community programming to support functional outcomes.

  • Complete thorough documentation for assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and service conclusions.

  • Provide in-service education to members of the child’s care team.

  • Attend meetings, program events, and professional development activities.

  • Represent Daystar Kids with strong customer service and professionalism.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Physical Therapy (or designated therapy specialty)

  • Current New York State licensure

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience

  • Feeding experience preferred (for OT-specific applicants)


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Understanding of effective teaching tools and methodologies

  • Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team

  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequent lifting/moving of up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, sit, and work in low postures to engage children

  • Regularly transition between sitting and standing positions

  • Use of hands, arms, and ability to hear and communicate clearly

  • Moderate noise level

  • On-site work required in a classroom/therapeutic environment
