Direct Care Paraprofessional - $18.50+ / HR

TES Staffing is thrilled to partner with K-12 school districts on the west side of Rochester to support their special education students.  We are seeking several Paraprofessionals to join our team.  These classroom heroes make all the difference- we can’t wait to talk to you about this excellent career opportunity.

Duties:

This is a direct care position involving...

  • Supervising and observing students enrolled in the class,
  • Acting independently and as a team member in directing, counseling, and instructing children in planned/unplanned instructional and recreational activities and daily routines,
  • Implementing classroom and behavioral goals as determined by the multi-disciplinary instructional team,
  • Assisting with the implementation of appropriate coping and resolution skills for students,
  • Assisting the teacher in small group instruction including planning, evaluating, and providing direct instruction under the supervision of the teacher,
  • Assisting the teacher in preparing instructional materials for classroom teaching and implementing certain units as directed by the teacher,
  • Collaborating with the teacher in providing progress notes and incident reports as needed,
  • Planning and implementing extracurricular activities including play productions and seasonal events, 
  • Providing supervision to student groups during transition times, lunch periods, and throughout the day,
  • Attending all in-service and regular classroom based staffing as directed by the teacher,
  • Maintaining an awareness of current treatment plans of students assigned and being perceptive of the impact that relationships and activities have on the treatment plan objectives, and
  • Communicating these observations to the instructional team.

  • Pay: $18.50 - $20.50 per hour, depending on experience.
Qualifications:
  • Must have at least one year experience with children.
  • Would love experience work with children with disabilities.
  • Must obtain, purchase, and pass background check through NYSED.
  • Able to perform physical job duties that include walking, standing for long periods of time, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • A valid drivers license and transportation.
    • NOTE: You may be asked to travel to different schools and facilities on the west side during the day.  We will reimburse for mileage.
