Job Summary:

TES Staffing is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Cafeteria Assistant to support our Food Services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with daily cafeteria operations, ensuring that food preparation, serving, and cleanup processes run smoothly. This position will involve prepping and serving food, washing dishes and utensils, and interacting with students in a friendly and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and assemble food items, including making sandwiches, cold plates, and other menu items as needed.
  • Assist in serving meals to students during meal periods.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and cafeteria, including washing dishes, utensils, and food prep tools.
  • Ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed.
  • Assist with inventory management and restocking of food and supplies.
  • Collaborate with cafeteria staff to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive, welcoming environment for students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in food service or cafeteria work preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to engage with students in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Must purchase and obtain fingerprint clearance through the New York State TEACH System prior to employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and carry objects.
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment with various cooking equipment and machinery.
