Ambulatory Tech/Secretary for Float Pool- Full Time

One of Rochester's largest teaching hospitals is seeking Ambulatory Technicians to become active members of their float pool.   • Full Time hours- M- F, NO WEEKENDS, NO OVERNIGHTS
  • Mileage Reimbursement for select locations.
  • Scheduled on a weekly basis.

Description:  
 
Duties include but not limited to the following:
Clerical:
  • Verify demographics/insurance coverage
  • Collect patient payments and issue receipts properly logging the information
  • Collect waivers
  • Generate patient encounter forms
  • Communicate effectively through electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • Open and distribute mail
  • Promptly and courteously respond to incoming phone traffic on multi-line phones through appropriate screening, routing, and prioritization of calls
  • Establish and maintain professional interpersonal interactions with patients, families, physicians, supervisors, and co-workers
  • Maintain knowledge of practice operations and procedures with the ability to effectively answer questions and offer direction to patients
  • Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Send and receive patient records according to established policies
  • Fax, copy, and email documents
  • Work as an effective, cooperative team member
Clinical:
  • Escort patients to examination rooms
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Attaches patient to diagnostic and medical equipment such as but not limited to dynamapp, pulse oximeter, EKG, cardiac monitor and pneumatic tourniquet.
  • Applies clinical knowledge while assisting the provider during exam. This requires anticipating provider needs and adapting to the complexity of the patient. 
  • Perform screenings and tests per provider direction
  • Set-up equipment and instruments per office protocol
  • Clean and maintain examination/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
  • Accurately labels, logs and processes specimens according to protocol and follows all Laboratory policies at all times.
  • Return patient calls per direction of provider
  • Perform quality assurance and CLIA waived testing as directed
  • Comply with standard HIPAA, OSHA, and JCAHO regulations
 



Qualifications:
Minimum 6 months of recent experience working in a medical facility as a Medical Assistant, Ambulatory Tech, PCT, or CNA


Requirements:
Strong communication skills- verbal and written
Reliable Transportation

Ability to work independently and on a team
