Food Service Manager

TES Staffing has partnered once again with one of the largest Universities in Rochester NY! We are looking for an individual that has strong managerial qualities and that is looking to expand in the food service industry! This is a true contract to hire position with benefits once hired perm.

Job Summary:

This position is vital to overseeing the operations of the assigned dining location to ensure all food is prepared and served according to health and safety regulations, the facility is clean, and guests are satisfied with their service. Assists in managing the staff and plays a significant role in maintaining positive employee relations and a positive team environment.
 
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Leads guest service associates by example. 
  • Understands, acknowledges, and values diversity.
  • Responsible for coaching union members in a diverse environment. 
  • Oversees the set-up and break-down of work stations.
  • Oversees the sanitation of work stations
  • Oversees cashiers on duty and ensures they are properly trained
  • Responsible for cash handling, safe verifications, and preparing deposits.
  • Oversees the cooking and preparation of food items according to recipes
  • Ensures staff completes daily temperature logs.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and performance feedback to associates.
  • Assist managers with employee discipline sessions, attendance logs, etc.
  • Engages with and asks guests about the quality of their service and handles any complaints (with assistance from the manager on duty), while maintaining a positive attitude and smile.
  • Ensures each station has the equipment and supplies needed to serve customers.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Ensures staff member uniform compliance.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by enforcing all safety standards and assisting with safety observations.
 Details: 
  • Pay starts at $20 / hour
  • Schedule: Primarily evenings. One weekend day required.
  • Benefits once hired perm include retirement plans, healthcare, and PTO.

Qualifications:
  • 1 year of previous supervisory experience.
  • 2 to 4 years experience in the food service industry preferred.
  • Previous experience managing in a union environment is a plus!
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal directions.
  • Time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment and promote teamwork.
  • Ability to use confidential information in an appropriate manner and maintain employee privacy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively use problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Completion of a criminal background check is required for hire, but does not disqualify candidates.
