Job Title: Summer Special Education Program Teacher Aide
Pay: $16.50/hour
Term of Employment: July 10, 2024 – August 20, 2024
Location: Monroe One BOCES – 41 O’Connor Road, Fairport NY 14450; various locations

Looking to make a meaningful impact in just a few weeks this summer? Join Monroe One BOCES and support students with disabilities in a rewarding, hands-on role. As a Summer Special Education Program Teacher Aide, you'll play a vital part in creating a supportive learning environment for students while gaining valuable classroom experience.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Provide instructional support to students with disabilities, both individually and in small groups, under the guidance of certified teachers.
Assist with supervision in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and more.
Help manage classroom behavior using positive behavior support and crisis intervention strategies.
Prepare materials, support lessons, and help with classroom organization and record keeping.
Use your own unique skills to support learning in areas like art, music, recreation, or vocational training.
Ride the school bus with students and participate in off-campus community-based learning activities.
Assist students in both therapeutic and traditional pool settings.
Support students with self-care, mobility, and daily living needs.
Attend meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
Be a team player—ready to jump in wherever needed!

Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Civil Service eligibility for Teacher Aide/Paraeducator (includes one year of clerical or childcare experience, or relevant certification).
Ability to perform physical job duties such as lifting, ambulating, and using physical intervention techniques.
Must be comfortable assisting with both hygienic support and the swimming unit.
Must be available for the full duration of the summer program and attend mandatory orientation (dates TBD).
