Accounting clerk (accounting experience/education required)
  • Rate of pay based on experience. Range $21.99-$25.49
  • Estimated Start & End = 1/3/2023 -> 6/30/2024
  • Education/Experience Requirements: (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; OR, (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or Business Administration that included a minimum of fifteen (15) semester credit hours in accounting; OR, (C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Economics, Finance or Business Administration that included a minimum of fifteen (15) semester credit hours in accounting plus one (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent* paid experience in accounting, auditing or bookkeeping; OR, (D) Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.
  • Accounting department clerk duties: bank statement reconciliations, general ledger journal data entry, customer service, and other accounting related activities.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills: This is an accounting position responsible for maintenance of accounting records and preparation of financial reports and analyses. Work is performed using an automated or manual accounting system. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a higher‐level staff member. General supervision may be exercised over a small number of clerical employees.
    • Prepares and formats legal documents, certifications, authorizations, forms and other related paperwork;
    • Enters and extracts data and information from a database.
    • Experience with financial reporting of assets, revenue, accruals, fund transfers, investments, expenses, etc.
    • Working knowledge of enterprise‐level business systems (accounting, budget, purchase-to-pay) and related technology.
    • Experience and knowledge of workflow automation/management solutions.
    • Ability to create and interpret procedure documents and forms; demonstrated ability to train others on procedures and workflow processes.
    • Strong collaboration skills; ability to work with multiple functional IT disciplines.
    • Solid organizational skills; ability to multitask and independently organize and execute assigned tasks within committed time frames.
    • Strong customer service mindset and attention to detail required.
    • Comfortable with innovation and change; demonstrates flexibility and adaptability.
    • Experience and knowledge of auditing concepts and strategies.
