Culinary Team Lead

Rochester, NY · Restaurant/Food Service
One of Rochester's largest employers is seeking a full time culinary supervisor for their campus dining hall! This position is a contract to potential hire role and requires interaction with students and faculty while also assisting employees in the kitchen and on the dining floor.

Pay Rate:
 $18-$22 per hour, depending on experience
Benefits offered on permanent hire
Schedule: Full Time, primarily evenings 2:00p-10:30p. Must include one weekend day but flexible!

Job Summary:
This position is vital to overseeing the operations of the assigned dining location to ensure all food is prepared and served according to health and safety regulations, the facility is clean, and guests are satisfied with their service. Assists in managing the staff and plays a significant role in maintaining positive employee relations and a positive team environment.
 
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Leads guest service associates by example. 
  • Understands, acknowledges, and values diversity.
  • Oversees the set-up and break-down of work stations.
  • Oversees the sanitation of work stations
  • Oversees cashiers on duty and ensures they are properly trained
  • Responsible for cash handling, safe verifications, and preparing deposits.
  • Oversees the cooking and preparation of food items according to recipes
  • Ensures staff completes daily temperature logs.
  • Provides ongoing coaching and performance feedback to associates.
  • Recipe creation and implementation
  • Assist managers with employee discipline sessions, attendance logs, etc.
  • Engages with and asks guests about the quality of their service and handles any complaints (with assistance from the manager on duty), while maintaining a positive attitude and smile.
  • Ensures each station has the equipment and supplies needed to serve customers.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Ensures staff member uniform compliance.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by enforcing all safety standards and assisting with safety observations.
 
Qualifications:
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination
  • 1 year of previous supervisory experience in customer service and/or 2-4 years experience in the food service industry
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal directions.
  • Time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment and promote teamwork.
  • Ability to use confidential information in an appropriate manner and maintain employee privacy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively use problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to quickly learn new technology systems a plus
  • Completion of a criminal background check is required for hire.
