Custodial Worker

TES Staffing, in collaboration with Monroe #1 BOCES, is seeking dependable and hardworking Custodial Workers to join the team in Fairport, NY. This is a full-time, 12-month position with multiple shifts available, offering an opportunity to work in a school-based environment while supporting clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for students, staff, and visitors.

Position Details

• Location: Fairport, NY 14450 – Various Locations

• Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month

• Start Date: As Soon As Possible

• Schedule: Multiple shifts available

• Starting Rate: $17.00 per hour

• 2nd Shift Rate: $17.50 per hour

• 3rd Shift Rate: $17.65 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Custodial Workers are responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and well-maintained offices, classrooms, bathrooms, and other facility areas. Responsibilities include:

• Perform general cleaning of offices, classrooms, bathrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces.

• Follow established work practices, procedures, and safety protocols, including blood-borne pathogen procedures.

• Complete window cleaning, wall washing, dry mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.

• Remove trash and recycling from assigned areas.

• Respond to emergency cleaning requests, including body fluid cleanups.

• Strip, clean, and refinish floors as needed.

• Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers and carpet extractors.

• Clean and maintain bathrooms and locker rooms, including replenishing soap, paper products, and other supplies.

• Move furniture and assist with room relocations and setups for special programs and events.

• Secure windows and doors and ensure assigned areas or buildings are properly locked and secured.

• Retrieve and complete work orders through a computerized work order system.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• Knowledge of general building cleaning procedures, materials, and equipment.

• Knowledge of cleaning agents and their proper applications.

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to use a computerized work order system.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, safe facilities.

• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

• A dependable and flexible approach to assisting coworkers and responding to facility needs.

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Repetitive cleaning tasks.

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

  • Walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and crouching.

  • Performing light, medium, and heavy physical work associated with cleaning and maintaining assigned areas.
