Production & Operations Lead – Local Juice Company
Rochester Public Market | Full-Time | $22–$25/hour to start
If you’re the kind of person who likes to work hard, stay busy, talk to people, and take ownership of what you do, this could be a really great opportunity.
We’re an established, family-run juice company located at the Rochester Public Market, and we’re looking for a dependable, energetic person to become a key part of our operation.
This is not a corporate job where you disappear into the background. You’ll work directly alongside the owners, learn the business from the inside out, and play an important role in keeping production and market operations running smoothly.
Starting pay is $22–$25/hour, with real opportunity for growth as you take on more responsibility. For the right person who proves themselves and grows with the business, there is significant earning potential over the next several years.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a hands-on job. You'll be moving, producing, organizing and interacting with customers — often all in the same day.
You'll help lead the day-to-day operation, including:
- Preparing fresh fruits and vegetables for production
- Operating commercial juicing equipment
- Bottling and preparing fresh juice for sale
- Setting up and maintaining an organized production area
- Helping manage inventory, supplies and product needs
- Working directly with customers at the Rochester Public Market
- Keeping things moving during busy market days
- Learning the operational side of running a successful small business
- Identifying ways to improve production, organization, sales and efficiency
As you learn the operation, you'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and become an increasingly important part of the business.
The Schedule
This is a guaranteed 40-hour-per-week position.
Friday and Saturday availability is required. Saturdays at the Rochester Public Market start early — approximately 5:30 AM — so you need to be someone who is genuinely comfortable with early mornings.
Outside of Friday and Saturday, there is flexibility in how the remainder of your 40-hour schedule is structured.
Additional overtime may also be available during our busy season, generally April through September.
Who Will Do Well Here
Experience in food production, kitchens, prep work or customer service is helpful, but we're much more interested in finding the right person.
You'll probably thrive here if you are:
Reliable. If you say you're going to be there, you're there. Our operation depends on people who can be counted on.
Resilient. Market days can be busy, physical and unpredictable. You don't get rattled easily, and when things get hectic, you figure it out and keep moving.
Good with people. You'll interact with customers regularly. You don't need to be a salesperson, but you should be friendly, approachable and comfortable talking with the public.
A self-starter. This is a small business. If you see something that needs to be done, you don't wait for someone to tell you.
Comfortable working hard. You'll be on your feet, moving product, prepping produce and operating equipment. This is not a desk job.
Interested in growing. We want someone who sees this as more than just their next hourly job. There is an opportunity here to learn operations, customer service, management, marketing and the realities of running a successful small business.
