Salary Range: $60,000–$68,000 annually

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the organization's finance team. This role is responsible for managing billing processes, accounts payable, general ledger activities, and financial reporting functions. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative professional who values accuracy, accountability, and contributing to a meaningful mission.
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health of the organization by overseeing billing operations, managing accounts payable, preparing journal entries, and assisting with month-end close activities. This individual will work closely with leadership and staff to ensure compliance, maintain accurate financial records, and support the organization's commitment to serving children and families.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Revenue Management
- Prepare and submit weekly Medicaid attendance and billing files through New York State ePaces.
- Monitor payments, reconcile billing activity, and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Process bi-weekly billing for Early Intervention (EI) and Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) programs through applicable New York State systems.
- Track incoming payments and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Ensure compliance with Medicaid billing regulations and reporting requirements.
- Complete additional billing activities as needed.
Accounts Payable & Cash Management
- Manage the full accounts payable process through BILL.com, including invoice workflow, approvals, and vendor payments.
- Record and monitor cash transactions within QuickBooks Online.
- Assist in maintaining rolling cash flow forecasts.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Record bi-weekly payroll journal entries.
- Support month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Assist with audits, grant reporting, and other financial reporting requests.
- Prepare financial reports and documentation as needed.
General Responsibilities
- Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting regulations.

- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial, employee, student, family, and organizational information.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Associate degree with relevant accounting experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting or finance experience.
- Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily on-site position in a professional office setting.
- Regular use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to move between seated and standing positions throughout the workday.
- Frequent use of hands for typing, reaching, and handling office materials.
- Moderate to occasionally loud noise levels due to the active school environment.
