Business Development Manager - Syracuse

Syracuse, NY · Construction/Facilities

Business Development Manager – Commercial Flooring | Syracuse & Central NY

Are you a B2B sales pro who's built territory in commercial construction, facilities, or building services — and ready to own a market?

This isn't a role for someone who waits on inbound leads. It's for a builder — someone who knows how to work GCs, owners, facilities directors, and architects; who understands long bid cycles and relationship-driven selling; and who sees a greenfield territory as the opportunity of a career.

About the Company

One of New York State's most respected commercial flooring contractors, with a track record of delivery across higher education, healthcare, K–12, government, and large-scale commercial facilities. They win on execution and earn repeat business through accountability — the kind of company you're proud to represent.

This role is supported in hiring by TES Staffing.

The Opportunity

Syracuse and Central NY represent genuine white space. There's a deep pipeline of institutional accounts that have never been formally called on — that means no incumbent relationships to fight, no entrenched competition, and a real chance to build something from the ground up with company backing.

You'll have estimating support, project management behind you, and a VP of Sales who's invested in your success.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Proactively developing new business across education, healthcare, government, and commercial facilities in the Syracuse/Central NY market
  • Building relationships with Directors of Facilities, Operations leaders, GCs, and project owners across the full sales cycle — from spec to award
  • Managing a territory with discipline: pipeline development, accurate forecasting, and CRM hygiene
  • Collaborating internally with estimating and project management to win and deliver
  • Representing the company as a long-term partner, not a vendor

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of B2B outside sales experience — ideally in commercial flooring, construction trades, facilities services, or related building/project-based industries
  • Proven track record of hunting and closing net-new accounts (not just managing existing books)
  • Comfort with longer sales cycles, multi-stakeholder deals, and project-based environments
  • Strong CRM habits — you use data to manage your pipeline, not just report on it
  • Based in or near Syracuse; this is a field-based role

Compensation

  • Base salary: $55,000–$65,000 depending on experience
  • Commission + performance bonuses
  • Total first-year on-target earnings: $100,000+
  • Clear ramp structure; this isn't a sink-or-swim setup
