Payroll Specialist
Location: Rochester, NY

TES Staffing has partnered with a trusted leader in commercial flooring based in Rochester, NY, and we are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing, particularly within the construction or skilled trades industries. If you're organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in commission-based payroll, this could be a perfect fit.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Work-Life Balance: Monday through Friday schedule — no weekends required
  • Competitive Pay: Starting at $29/hr, based on experience and qualifications
  • Supportive Environment: 90-day onboarding with hands-on training to ensure success

Key Responsibilities
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees
  • Manage payroll for commissioned employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal structures
  • Track and verify hours worked, timecards, PTO, and job site allocations
  • Maintain and update payroll records and employee data in payroll software
  • Ensure accurate withholding of taxes, benefits, and other deductions
  • Work closely with accounting and HR departments to ensure seamless data flow
  • Prepare payroll reports and respond to internal or external payroll inquiries
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws
  • Assist with year-end processes, including W-2s and tax filings

What We're Looking For
  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and timekeeping software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive data with confidentiality
  • Solid understanding of wage and hour laws, taxes, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in the construction or skilled trades industry
  • Background handling commission-based payroll
  • Familiarity with union payroll and certified payroll reporting is a plus
