Employee Benefits Support Specialist

Fairport, NY · Healthcare

Job Title: Employee Benefits Support Specialist
Compensation: Depending on experience, starting at $21/hr
Location: Fairport, NY

Since 1978, our client has specialized in the design, administration, and management of employee benefits plans—including dental, vision, prescription drug, and flexible spending accounts. They partner with brokers, carriers, and plan sponsors to deliver creative and cost-effective solutions, backed by friendly, responsive service. This company team thrives on innovation, simplicity, and building real relationships—with each other and with their clients.

The Role

We’re looking for an Employee Benefits Support Specialist  who loves digging into the details of benefits design, enjoys talking to people, and knows how to get stuff done. This isn’t a high-oversight, heavily structured environment—you’ll need to be independent, self-motivated, and ready to take initiative. You’ll be a key player on a very small team, so your voice, your ideas, and your work will have an immediate and lasting impact.

You’ll have your own office (not a cubicle), and while we envision growing into a call center model eventually, right now it’s all about getting the job done with efficiency, heart, and a bit of humor.

This is a huge opportunity to help us build and refine claim entry systems, streamline client services, and shape the future of our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction with their benefits plans

  • Handle inquiries regarding claims, billing, eligibility, and plan administration

  • Manage claim entry workflows—this is your baby to build

  • Coordinate with carriers, brokers, and internal teams to keep everything running smoothly

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines (NDA and HIPAA documentation required)

  • Stay informed on Life, Accident, and Health licensing—bonus points if you’re already licensed or interested

  • Collaborate with the founder and team to identify and fill operational gaps

  • Operate independently with confidence while staying aligned with the team’s goals

Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience in employee benefits, insurance.  Extra points for working in Dental Claims

  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, lightly managed environment

  • Excellent communicator who can connect easily with clients

  • Exceptionally organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently

What We Offer

  • Immediate eligibility for benefits on day one

  • 401(k) with company support

  • Free dental coverage

  • Health insurance

  • Flexible vacation/PTO policy – take time when you need it

  • Two weeks encouraged during your first year

  • If schools are closed, we’re closed too—family comes first

  • Chill work culture – 8:00 to 5:00 or 8:30 to 5:00

  • Own office (no cubicles—for now), with vision for future call center growth

  • Dogs welcome 🐾

  • A tight-knit, laid-back environment where your work truly matters

This Role Is for You If...

  • You want to be a cornerstone of a small, growing company

  • You work best with trust, autonomy, and clarity

  • You enjoy variety, problem-solving, and direct client interaction

  • You’re excited to contribute meaningfully and help shape how things get done

  • You’re ready to jump in ASAP and grow with us
