Responsibilities:
- Create a flexible schedule and customize availability week-to-week based on preferred locations and age groups.
- Follow established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which you are assigned.
- Provide continuity of quality instruction to students in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Maintain classroom discipline during instructional time, lunch, and recess periods.
- Establish effective working relationships with staff, students, and the community.
- Adapt instructional programs to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Communicate classroom activities, completed work, homework assignments, and any problems to the absent teacher.
- Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
- Attend meetings and serve on staff committees as appropriate.
- Follow NY State Education Department's regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by school building administrators.
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 1 year of related childcare/teaching experience.
- Certified Teachers Preferred but not required.
- Must meet the physical demands of the position.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to obtain and pass a criminal background check with NYSED (Clearance for Employment).
